ICC Travel is the only Official Tour and Travel Operator appointed by the ICC to manage and administer a range of travel packages for every ICC major tournament. Every travel agent featured on ICC Travel has been carefully selected to offer official ticket inclusive travel packages leading up to and including ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Fans wishing to book an ICC event package through unofficial providers risk getting their tickets revoked and are therefore strongly recommended to book through ICC Travel’s official agents.
Room to Read
The ICC began a four-year partnership with Room to Read at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 aimed at promoting literacy and global access to books. Room to Read is seeking to transform the lives of millions of children across Asia and Africa by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. This is done through the establishment of reading rooms, construction of schools, the development of local language publishing programmes and girls’ education scholarships. The organisation has already helped six million children across the world and distributed 10 million books.
Room to Read delivers work in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, South Africa and Zambia. A number of high profile players have supported the ICC-Room to Read partnership, including Room to Read Ambassadors including Shane Watson and Angelo Mathews.
Through a variety of fundraising activities, the partnership has already ensured that over 20,000 children have been given access to education and the opportunity to read. A series of awareness and fundraising activities are planned by the ICC in 2012, including events at the ICC World Twenty20 2012.
